"The Wise speak, because they have something to say - The Fool, because they have to say SOMEthing."

One of my favorite quotes, but I can't remember where I learned it.

How about you?
What's your favorite quote?

OK if you insist, here's 1 more:

"You're mad, bonkers, completely off your head. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are."

Ruh-roh! Wrong thing to ask me. I have several pages of such faves. Just 1 for now:

Seek simplicity, but distrust it.

There was an episode of Third Rock From the Sun where Harry got a well-known idiom wrong and it was hilarious. He said “when life hands you lemons,...shut up and eat your damn lemons.” I always kinda liked that 😀

"If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember what you said", Harry Truman, I think... but I also like "Never give the Bitch the satisfaction" and that was a buddy of mine.

You know your right... I have to ask myself if I'm tooting my own horn when I make a comment or a post. It happens to the best of us...lol.

"Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something." - Plato quote

“… Science is constantly proved all the time. You see if we take something like any fiction, any holy book… and destroyed it, in a thousand years’ time, that wouldn’t come back just as it was. Whereas if we took every science book, and every fact, and destroyed them all, in a thousand years they’d all be back because all the same tests would [produce] the same result.”

(paraphrased)

"Do not believe something just because:
-It is written in your holy books
-Tradition of many generations says so
-Your teacher says so
-It agrees with common sense
-It agrees with your opinion
-I say so...
...but after carefully considering and testing it for yourself, if you see that it agrees with reason and is conducive to the good of one and all, then you should believe it."

TL;DR: "Find out for yourself."

-- Shakyamuni Buddha

True confidence is not walking into a room of people and feeling like you can "measure up" to anyone of them. True confidence is walking into a room full of people and not feeling a need to compare yourself to them. (Or something to that effect and I'm not sure who originally said it)

'Holding on to anger is like holding on to a red hot coal while you wait to throw it at your enemy' supposedly said by Siddartha Goatama. Though considering its very unlikely that he spoke English....

'My religion is love' often attributed to the Dalai Lama

And lastly, my old mum used to say ' Jimmy, if you keep punching, the bastards have got to fall down in the end' 🙂
