I can't remember if it was on this social networking site or that "other one," but I felt like some one was asking about a personality test. This is my late response to that question that I want to share with every one.

That was a solid article. I posted a question a while back about everyone's MBTI type to see if there were any trends and there were. A bunch of folks got into the pseudo-science of it all and the origination of the MBTI and the ways it's misused.

For me I'm a 41 year old divorced male, (not at my choice). My friends started in on how I should start dating again but I didn't think another relationship would really make me happy. I like my work, but changed careers later in life and am not properly schooled for my career path which although I'm in the process of getting schooled, really seem to dread corporate life and don't think I want to be there forever. Point being, I didn't know what would make me happy so I started investing energy into researching different personality tests to see if I could find out what would.

The MBTI categorized me as an INTJ so after taking it multiple times to be sure, I started looking into what that meant. Some articles written on the MBTI think they can predict my future wife's hair color based on my label, or what my favorite vehicle to drive is. A lot of the conclusions and details are bullshit, however it also lead me to some realizations that had previously been on the cusp of my mind but not at the forefront. "INTJ's hate ignorance" and "want to leave a mark" were the biggest that I focused on. I had in the past considered these as insignificant facets of my personality, but after reading more about the INTJ I decided to focus more on these and now I have a path. I'm working on something that incorporates those and a few other facets of my "type" and I'm very happy with my new direction in life.

So in conclusion, I think of personality tests or categorization as a tool like any other. It's not the end-all-be-all to who anyone is, but I found a way to benefit from it and hope others can as well.
