I havent gotten to share this story online in a group setting that will see the humor and possible insight or maybe it is just me being stuck in a small town. not sure what category to place this is. (I apologize for my writing style, I know my grammar, I just love not using it right).
I had a heart attack in 2015, thought it was a very high anxiety attack with some left arm pain from a bad shoulder, even tried to sleep it off. to boil it down to where I want, I waited 6 hours before my brother ordered me into to car because I was fumbling around and soaked my clothes from sweat in 30 seconds. I get to the ER they throw me on the table, I have what seems like 20 people running around me, stripping my clothes off, doing iv's, ekg leads all that and in the middle this nurse bends down and says "youre having a serious heart attack, say your prayers." I reply "I don't pray, I'm agnostic." I remember what seemed like an eternity of everyone stopping and looking at me like what did he just say? then the nurse kindly replied in a stunned manner "that's fine just get right with whoever before the worst happens." in all the pain and fear and confusion in myself that woman said the closest thing that I needed to hear instead of being a prude. she didnt understand but she went with it as best as she could in that setting. I'll never forget it. I can still chuckle at it. it may have not been the best thing she could have said although she was quick on her feet. the really funny thing here...I was more afraid to be on that damn bed naked in front of all those people than having the heart attack.

Wow, glad you survived could have been over! Funny nurse, you got to love people that can just go with the flow in a crisis. We never seem to be spared embarrassment even in drastic times, such a human response, but to the ER team we are just another body or unit.

Oh, yeah, Gods plan. and when someone dies, they are in a better place, they are young again, da, di, da. di, da... I just stress that things work out one way or another and at least they're not in pain any longer. Inside though I'm screaming.

I took a taxi when I had my heart attack. My sister still chuckles at that.

In my defense, I didn't believe it was a heart attack. I never experienced severe chest pains. In fact, my jaw and back were what hurt. Found out later that women don't have the same markers/pain as men do.

...hope if that ever happens to me I’m of a mind to keep my mouth shut.. Wouldn’t want everyone to begin to wonder if they really want this guy around, or not 😐

Loved this, though, “...I know my grammar, I just love not using it right” 😀 Around here, just fine ~

Umm.. Can I just say that I LOVE that you tried to "sleep off" a heart attack. You are my favorite person today.
