First Communion. 1974 (ish)
I find it creepy AF that little girls have to essentially dress up as brides. Maybe one the reasons I never married...

Think yourself lucky, had you been LDS at that age and in that same get up some old pervert would have tried to drown you in a miniature swimming bath while your parents looked on and murmured about how quaint it all was.

My first communion was far less formal and no one dressed me in white.

@Kattywampus69 We lived in Madison. Could have been some progressive, campus priest.

I often fall into that category of those being told “You need to learn more about religions” … No, I don’t….

@Kattywampus69 Once climbed onto the bleachers at a local baseball game with my daughters, heads began turning as they’d ask the most basic of questions. A former ‘all star shortstop,’ I just smiled; no need to fill their heads with nonsense 🙂 Much like religion..

Man, that's messed up. I never realized. But you were a bride of Christ no?

Creepy was what I felt as well. I felt a subtle anger and did not know why.

Yes, it is creepy.

Brides did not wear white until Queen Victoria started the fashion in 1840.

So I wonder when communion dresses followed suit and what did little girls wear prior to that? Or were they white first?

I think they were white first yes.
