This is a story about a very young man and his struggle to find and understand the truth., There was once a young man named Amadeus. Now Amadeus was tall for his age and some said he possesses an intelligence beyond his years. but those are stories for another time. One day Amadeus's parents approached him and began a conversation about a local church, since Amadeus's mother was forced to attend Catholic school and she found it to be the great nightmare of her life, she decided early on that Amadeus would have the option to choose what denomination and what church he's like to attend, if any. So years later, yet where our story begins; Amadeus decides he'll try out the local Baptist Church. After all he seems to remember stories in his younger days about John the Baptist veing a great friend of Jesus, and he thought he couldn't go wrong with company like that. So young Amadeus wanting to do everything with enthusiasm and vigor, goes off to the local Baptist Church. In the few weeks that followed, he . Began to participate in Bible study, and he began to try to follow the lines of thinking that unfolded before him throughout his Bible Study Group. Not wanting to be misinformed, but wanting to be properly educated he began noticing some inconsistencies in what he was studying (that young Amadeus knew such descriptive words at his tender age is uncertain.) So young Amadeus decides that the best way to get solid and definitive answers to his many questions would be to raise the questions with the big guy himself, the Pastor who gave the sermon every Sunday. The congregation Amadeus attended wasn't massive by any means, however that Baptist church did boast a following of more or less twelve hundred attendees. So young Amadeus got his courage up and finally decided to ask the Pastor openly to help explain the inconsistencies, Amadeus started by asking the Pastor if God was omnipotent, to which the Pastor responded naturally "why yes son, the Almighty is indeed Omnipotent." Next Amadeus questioned the Pastor on God's ability to create, and the Pastor replied, "Why yes son our Lord the great God Almighty did in fact create all that you can see and even things you can't see like the other side of the earth which we know to be there. Then Amadeus went out on a limb and asked if it was true that there was anything in the world that God did not know about , and furthermore , i"t's god who is making everything happen from the grass growing to the sun shining is that so?" Amadeus asked innocently, to which the Pastor replied ermphatically "yes son, that is so, it's all happening because God made it happen just the way it is" Now Amadeus really got his courage up and flatly asked the Pastor his final question:"Then how is it you are in a position to question or judge Gods Creations?" To which the Pastor with the most confused look on his face queried of the young Amadeus " Why, whatever do you mean by that son?""Well" Amadeus replied "God made the devil didn't he? Don't you think God knew what he was doing? Who are you a mere mortal man to question Gods Creations?"" Suddenly a very still hush fell over the congregational. And it was plain for all to see that the young Amadeus had caught the Pastor between a proverbial rock and a hard place. Then suddenly the pastor's eyes opened wide. And he proclaimed to the young Amadeus "Take iit on faith!" Now Amadeus immediately realized that this was no kind of answer to his line of questioning at all . And although Amadeus tried to ask the Pastor just what exactly it was he should be taking on faith, the roar of approval and applause from the congregation quickly drowned him out. Amadeus being shocked that he had been so easily brushed off by the pastor began to retake his seat to ponder this upsetti unfolding off events looked up just in time to see the trustees of the church, he Pastor announced it was time to pass the donation baskets or as some call them thevcolkection plates. A look of epiphany overcame Amadeus's face as it occurred to him that this Pastor and his entire congregation were nothing but charlatans. And he b easily fooled by worldly men. And so far as we know he never has.
Well.. sounds like that pastor knew when to get that collection plate out to the aisles. Smart guy.
Considering my poor vision.. or hope someone enjoys this story. I'm rooting for Amadeus!
