AH! A Libertarian! A Republican's "slow" cousin.

The only lace reporting this study is the ultra right wing Washington Examiner. To state that 1 in 10 Americans is an undocumented person is ludicrus.

Well . I haven't came to USA illegally . But I bet u 50 cents , if u were around me back on 1995 , all u would have seen is my black hair , my accent , and a threat to your job .

Not me. I would have seen your black hair, heard your accent, seen that face and gone WOW! But that's just me. 🙂

Anyone living here that has an eye and half a brain can tell there arent as many Mexicans around as there was so any claimed increases I would be very suspect of. That runs counter to everything I've seen and it's a very noticeable difference where I live. They say illegal immigrants but we know all they mean Mexicans. How dare they come back to the land we stole from them.

The Washington Examiner is a known conservative source.

Checking the article comes up with this paragraph:

“‘Our results lead us to the conclusion that the widely accepted estimate of 11.3 million undocumented immigrants in the United States is too small. Our model estimates indicate that the true number is likely to be larger, with an estimated 95 percent probability interval ranging from 16.2 to 29.5 million undocumented immigrants,’ said their report published by PLOS One, an academic journal.”

The Washington Examiner deliberately overstated the numbers by taking the upper end of the ESTIMATED data range presented in the study and presenting it as if it were the actual number of undocumented aliens. The study authors state an everage estimate of 22.5 million undocumented aliens.

In other words, and putting it bluntly, the Washington Examiner number of 29.5 million undocumented aliens is bullshit. They cherry picked an estimate and present it as if it were fact.

I would label this presentation as a deliberate misstatement— a lie, in effect.

Nice job clarifying. Saved me the time to confirm that the original post was bs.

@Ceebrass thanks. Hopefully, you will be able to return the favor sometime.
