Largest outbreak of chicken pox to hit the state of NC among antivaxers since the introduction of the varicella vaccine. Ashville Montessori parents claim religious exemption. How can you claim a religious exemption when all mainstream religions are based prescientific doctrine? There are no real religious exemptions for breaching social contract and infecting your friends and neighbors with preventible diseases?

When one of my kids got chicken pox we made sure the other one caught it too. Unlike measles it's a very mild disease for children, but less so for adults. The insatiable desire of the drug companies to make money by solving non-problems should not be underestimated.

Next, whooping cough (good luck to those with impaired lung function!) Diptheria, and german measles (because the world needs deformed newborns.) Oh, and polio, anyone?
Because all these diseases, and more, are Not exclusive to children!

Exactly! The very young the very old and the immunocompromised are most at risk and live among us everywhere.

The problem is the legislators that allowed the religious exemption in the first place.

Agreed! Maryland had a religious exemption as required by the state constitution and they had over 300 claim religious exemptions....the majority from yoga instructors. The following year they required it be supported by religious doctrine and the number of successful exemptions dropped to zero.
