I commented on another post similar to this a bit ago. I don't care what others believe. Leave them alone! If you came to my door and tried selling me a tv, I would be polite and ask you to leave. If you don't get the message after 5 attempts, you will have a tv for a hat.

Too bad for him and good for the tribe. I don't understand these people. The Jehovah's Witnesses try to recruit even though they preach only so many of them will be saved. This tells me that for every person they recruit lessens the chances they themselves will be 'saved'.

The JW notion of "the 144,000" was modified some time ago, around the time the number of JW's surpassed that number. It has morphed from the notion that only 144,000 will be saved, to that 144,000 will be the elite and most privileged in the kingdom. In other words it has been transformed from a motivation to become a JW, to a motivation to become the best JW that you can be.

@mordant Good to know. Interesting how some religions see their shortcomings and try to adapt. I was on the ferry recently and saw a couple of guys with their display. The law prohibits proselytizing on the ferry so they just sit and let people come to them.
