I am feeling very loved today. HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYONE!

Things that have made my day today, so far...

  1. My son, Cannon walks into my bedroom and wakes me up with a hug and tells me, "Happy Thanksgiving, Mom. I am thankful that you are my mother and that you are kind and loving to Branden and I. (Branden is my older son.) I love you so much." MY HEART MELTED!

  2. A former coworker that I used to work with when I worked for the State of Texas called me to wish my sons and I a Happy Thanksgiving. (She wasn't the nicest, but whose cold heart I was able to thaw out before leaving.) She said she missed me working there and thought about me. She said the health clinic misses me. I haven't seen her in almost 3 years! How sweet of her!

  3. My former lawn care contractor, Mr. Butler, called me this morning to wish me and my sons a Happy Thanksgiving. "Miss Pepper. It's Mr. Buddy Butler. My wife and I are calling to wish you and your sons a Happy Thanksgiving. I will never forget everything you have done for us and our family. You were there when we needed someone the most. And for that, we are most grateful for you. Thank you for all you've done. Give the boys hugs for us. We love you and miss you very much." Mr.& Mrs. Butler were on the verge of being evicted from their apartment a few times due to his beloved wife having cancer. He was cutting yards, donating blood, doing odd jobs around the town to keep up with medical bills, food, housing. Long story short, he is illiterate with a learning disability and had never filled out applications to qualify his wife for health insurance to help alleviate some financial medical strains. My sons and I made sure they were not evicted. They are a semi elderly Black couple, so I got attached to them because they needed help. My sons and I teamed up to make sure they weren't evicted and that they were going to have food in their stomachs, utilities, and to make sure they were going to be okay. And they are doing well now. I love them so much. I cried with them over the phone. Good tears.

I am thankful for all the wonderful people that come into my life. I am beyond honoured to have met them. Thank you to everyone here as well. Thank you for your hospitality and kindness. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
