I am so tired, I don't want to go to work. Not teaching until 12 but I need to go shopping first for supplies for our office (tea, coffee, goodies). Teaching anatomy and physiology at 2pm until 5pm. I try to make it fun but there is only so much you can have with the digestive system. Weekend is mostly catching up on housework, doctoral stuff and prep for next week. I need a holiday. What do you find helps?

Are you low on Vit D? You sound exhausted. And why can't someone else get the supplies?

What helps me is being selfish. Like you, I work silly hours and 'care' for three competent adults. So, I deliberately turn my back on the house work to go out for a walk, and I am a serious walker - cane, boots, woolly hat - and rationalise that none of the adults in the house will die from a lack of clean underwear or stack of dishes that need washing.
Feel much more energised and positive on my return, and usually find that someone has managed to find the washing machine, or clean dishes when I didn't do it.

You are always wise. My office colleagues tend to ignore the need for supplies. They wouldn't die from a lack of chocolate hobnobs but they do make life easier. I think its just a constant desire to please. Its a killer. The walk sounds good.

@Amisja It is SOOOO hard though. This week we have had beakdowns on the lines which means we have delays of up to an hour. So twice this week, I started at 14.00 and finished at gone 23.00. Got back home at 23.50. Walked in to kitchen to cats in the laundry basket, shedding hairs all over clean stuff, stack of plates from today and a table covered in Sudoku, cups and bits of someones study stuff. Made a cup of tea, went to bed - although I was itching to tidy up, but i left it. That was really hard for me, but felt SOOOO good ! Almost naughty.

And guess what ? No one died.

@Tilia That is good advice

I think the digestive system is pretty amazing. Can I sit in on your class? ?

Absolutely

I like the way you combine suffering with bragging.

Which bit was bragging?? @confused

@Amisja You'll figure it out, what with all your qualifications. @doctoralstuff

@brentan That was bragging? Seriously? I'm 52...flipping heck if I said I was doing my Phd at 19, I'd be bragging. As it is, I'm a university lecturer and its expected.

@Amisja Enough said, I think.

@brentan Why are you being so unkind?

@Amisja I didn't see it as unkind when I wrote it but I suppose it is. I apologise.

Dont think Brentan was being unkind so much as pointing about how you handle an awful lot of stuf that many of us find awsome in the way you do it.
We do love you !! Really !

@Tilia Yes, that's exactly what I meant. No, I think I was right to apologise!
