Have you read The Generation of Sociopaths
How the baby boomers betrayed America?
I think it is a millennial must read. We have been horrible and are still running things.
No we haven’t. We just lived our lives the best we could in the circumstances, social and economic, in which we found ourselves. The people responsible for how things have gone wrong were and are the same people who always were and are. The financial houses, corporate adventurers, the gamblers of the stock exchange, embedded government establishments, politicians. These people act in the same ways, broadly speaking, irrespective of the generation(s) they spring from.
I for one, am sick and tired of being personally blamed for the trials of a new generation. I lived through trials as bad or worse than they are. This newer generation would be better off if they were more vociferous, politically activist, and unionised, as we were.
Blaming seems to be America's favourite sport.
But such dysfunctional behaviour is not limited to the United States; blaming seems to be a human disability for those who need to always look outwards to make sense of their worlds, instead of inward where all things begin and often end.
As a baby boomer, i heard my generation blame all those who came before us for the mess the world was in. So now the pundits, regardless of what generation they were born into seem to have kept up the tradition.
Humanity has short memories, which is exactly why it takes so long for many to see, acknowledge, or appreciate the micro changes which are required to manifest significant changes to our societies.
