Any atheists here have that almost debilitating fear of death? Not knowing that u r dead and u would be like the years before u were born. Have u shook off that fear that ur life had disappeared. Does it consume ur thoughts. Anyone here experience this and were u able to get it over and move past it?

It doesn't consume my thoughts and frankly never has.

Also ... such fears aren't actionable. It's like being afraid of air.

Everything that happens is good from a higher perspective. There is absolutely nothing to be afraid of.

The thing is, death is going to happen whether you fear it or not.
If you spend any time at all fearing death, you're going to be wasting an awful lot of time you could be living your life.

First, learn how to spell, my friend. This is not texting.

Now for your query… I am not afraid of death, but of the pain I will feel heading to the last moments of my life. My wife is a nurse and I know what drugs are available to relieve the pain, so I am not overly worried. I am most concerned with how Kathy will get along without me and with my minimal life insurance. Being on a fixed income, it is hard for a 66+ year old man to afford much.

No....death happens. That's it.

Don't think or worry about it at all. It just is....

Usually I’m a grade A pessimist but when it comes to the afterlife I have to revert to a scientific level of thinking.
Fact is that there’s quite a few theories about what happens but that’s just it.
There’s been nothing other than some opinions of people who have supposedly died and were brought back to the living but their religious bias showed in their description of events.

So until someone can die and record their event so that all may have evidence to review I’m to not assume anything but will achieve my own answers in my passing.

It wasn't easy to cope with losing the Christian idea of eternal life. I'm content with the concept of becoming part of the cosmic consciousness. That consciousness might be completely impersonal but who know?
