When you say "even though the research is often funded by American taxpayers", that is not so. Countries around the world do research at universities and other institutions then when they find a 'cure' that research is patented and a company starts to manufacture the drug under license. That company makes a lot of money. The reason that drugs are so expensive in the US is because your politicians have shares in those companies or get bribes from them.

This is another reason why Medicare for all within a single payer system is necessary. Let the government negotiate with the drug companies, otherwise citizens will be extorted and extorted to death by Big Pharma. We have the most expensive health system in the world, but we don't have nearly the best health system and Big Pharma's plays a major role in the extortion of everyone. It is immoral.

If we had congress critters that had OUR best interests at heart, they would pass laws that would prevent the big pharma assholes from screwing us. We need a new congress with NO REPUBS in it!!!!
