The likelihood is that male to female trans people probably have a disadvantage physically. Most develop osteoarthritis at younger ages, reduction in muscle mass actually causes a great deal of pain. It isn't just a chop and yer done. It is a lifelong commitment to gender affirmation that requires medication, lots of surgery and physical changes that are not just purely cosmetic.

that's an answer to a completely different question

@IamBane physical disadvantage=struggle to kick a ball

I'm curious; if all you're going to do is argue with people who have a different opinion than you, then what was the point in posting this?

because i enjoy seeing the other side's point of view, and i'm confident enough with my opinions/beliefs to place them out in the open...This way, i know my strong AND weak points.

Moreover, i am convinced that i do NOT know everything, and hearing from people with varying experiences helps to clarify mine.

I personally don't see any issue with it. It's better than demanding participants to take a sex test to prove their gender.

u don't because ur not that girl in lane 2 about to be smoked by testosterone.

@IamBane It wouldn't matter to me. But then again, that's MY opinion and not yours. Last I heard, everyone is entitled to an opinion.

@IamBane What testosterone? You understand women have testosterone too don't you?

@MichaelSpinler please read my post below. This is shockingly ignorant.

@MichaelSpinler How do you know I am not an expert?

@MichaelSpinler [scholar.google.co.uk]

@Amisja ummmm????

@MichaelSpinler Not an academic source, one person's opinion.

@Amisja by how u speak about this topic

@IamBane Eh?

@MichaelSpinler No knowing a 'transgender' (thats awful) doesn't. However being the lead for LGBT+ at the university, I teach at does.

@Amisja no it doesn't! haaaaaaaa

@MichaelSpinler Yes...your expert eh?

@MichaelSpinler Not necessarily. I read some of 'your expert's' work. She is clearly right wing and elludes to passages from gospel, the bible, mother theresa etc...she has an agenda

@MichaelSpinler Check the science and what I wrote previously

@MichaelSpinler Ok here goes...two registrations in nursing, two BScs, dip management, dip counselling, dip sexual health, PGcert teaching, MSc global medicine, non-medical prescriber FHEA....currently finishing my doctorate. That do ya?

@MichaelSpinler transwomen have a lifetime of hormone therapy.

@MichaelSpinler sex reassigment? Who even says that? Its 2018 gender affirmation please

@MichaelSpinler decide? They don't decide. They have no choice

@MichaelSpinler there are biologically born women with extra testosterone. And up until the last Olympics those woman were banned for failing the "test"

I think there are too many variables

What's the most salient variable in ur list?

@IamBane Depends on the event, when the person changed gender (someone who changed as a child would be different than an adult), depends on the skills required. Archery for example my not confer an advantage to a person transing

@Amisja now ur making sense....i agree....depends on whether they have had hormone treatment, etc...Albeit, and i should have made my self clearer, track and field, in particular running, was what prompted me to ask the question.

@IamBane My nephew is trans and to be honest I seriously think he could outrun any biological guys his age. Trans isn't as simple as chopping a willy off and providing hormones. Hormone treatments (male to female ) create increased emotionality, decrease in muscle growth, increase in adipose tissue around the buttocks and abdomen. In addition they are likely to have a change in gait, relearning the centre of gravity and movements can be difficult. Transwomen are more likely to experience osteoarthiritis, depression and anxiety. You are wrong

@Amisja Here's the example I have heard that speaks to my point: If Bo Jackson underwent gender reassignment, there isn't a woman on planet Earth that could best him in 99% of all physical, sports activity, in ANY apples to apples comparison.....That's my point, and that seems UNFAIR to me.

@IamBane I have no idea who that is.

@Amisja the problem with ur last sentence is economic: the last 3 words weren't needed.

@IamBane no ifs.....if Bo Jackson had not played football he would be in the baseball hall of fame. See.

What if its a knitting competition

When was the last knitting competition televised: I must have missed that pay-per-view event!

@IamBane Where does it say in your OP about something being televised? We have televised baking, cooking and sewing programmes..why not knitting?

@IamBane I have never seen a knitting competition, but I did watch a rock/paper/scissors competition (briefly) that was on tv.

@Amisja u MAY be missing my point!??????!

@IamBane No you are being transphobic

@Amisja u don't waste any time, do ya?

@IamBane life is short and this is ignorant

@Amisja what's ignorant?

@OwlInASack couldn't i just as easy say ur being transphobic about talking about being transphobic....Man u make it easy!

@OwlInASack This precludes to what you are saying

No! I support LGBT, but not this! There should be a separate group for transgender athletes or make them compete with their birth gender group.

i agree!

@owlinasack for the same reason women don't compete against men currently!

0

In what?

Sports!

@OwlInASack if they altered themselves chemically to become "black" then ud have a point.....But u don't!

@OwlInASack if we had it ur way, no biological woman would EVER get a scholarship for sports, win an Olympic medal, or reach the pinnacle of her sport again......A bunch of Brock Lesnars/Usian Bolts, "in transition," would sign up and easily push them out.

@OwlInASack Sure, gender is not binary.....AND?........U r missing the point, dude!.....WHAT ABOUT THE GIRLS THEY COMPETE AGAINST?????????????????????????????

@OwlInASack I know u would love to make it about trans-phobia, but that's not the issue.
