Had Bernie Sanders run as an independent, had he not endorsed Clinton, the antithesis of most of what he claimed he stood for, he might have been believable. But running as a democrat or republican comes with a shitload of baggage . . . You may as well be voting for the same war-mongers, same old corporate fascist policies, same old lack of representation, same old kleptocracy, no change.

He ran as an independent. Not as a democrat, I believe if he had indeed switched to being a registered democrat he would have received democratic funding and won the nomination. He should have switched parties and became a democrat. This is where he lost.

Wrong . . . . [en.wikipedia.org]

@THHA as I understand it , he remained an independent but had enough votes allowing him to debate I still believe he never changed his party affiliation but no matter, he did get screwed by the Hillary gang. It is over now and we got what we got, that we all can share in the shameful president .

Sadly the system is set up so that you have to run as a democrat or a republican.
You didn’t see Gary Johnson or Jill Stein at the debates did you?
So let me say I’ve loved Bernie for over a decade but if he hadn’t run on the Democratic ticket he wouldn’t have been heard and everyone knows it.

And what’s worse is that in the emails that Deb Shultz was asked about in court during a class action lawsuit against the DNC acknowledged that Bernie was cherry picked to debate against Clinton because of the fact that they had intended to use his political status as an independent against him.

And when asked if he was a democrat before then would he have been involved in the primaries? She replied that maybe but she couldn’t give a definitive answer to that.
So you tell me what if

Blah, blah, blah. Nice tags.

And if you vote for an Independent you might as well vote for your couch. You act like somewhere in history, there has been a country that hasn't been run by the person or persons with the most stuff.

Cut to the chase and vote for Bernie.

Look up Duverger's Law. Because of how our election system works, there's zero chance of any other party than the Dems or GOP winning elections at the national level. Now back in the early 19th century, the Whig party imploded and the GOP took its place. At present it appears the GOP is imploding and something else has already taken its place (Trumpism, or call it what you will) and that may in turn go down in flames and something else will step into the resulting power vacuum, possibly with the same name, possibly not. But that's the only way it's going to change.

Sanders has already pushed the Democratic party considerably to the left, and inspired a new generation of visionary leadership like Ocasio-Cortez -- which, if Trump doesn't manage to choke it in its crib, could, just maybe, provide a real alternative to the GOP.

Oh, and you might not have noticed, but the DNC finally got rid of the superdelegate system. You can thank Bernie for that one too.

Sanders did the only thing he could do after losing the nomination, and not cut off his nose to spite his face. Or put another way, rather than cut off his nose, he held it and endorsed Clinton ... just like I held my nose and voted for her.

So shoot me. You think Trump is better? And not a clown? How's that working out?
