Wish I could take some time off (and didn't have my zoo...).
If I remember correctly, you can take the ICW most of the way down. That would keep you close to land while you are learning to handle her, just watch your depth. It would be slower but a pretty trip.

Ah you make me miss my sailing days in WORSA in Newport Beach CA. That's the "Women's Ocean Racing and Sailing Association", quite a mouthful. I hope you find crew, and have a great journey!
