What a teacher truly makes:
[sunnyskyz.com]
I subbed some when work was slow. Several things struck me:
Teachers like Susan who appreciated their opportunity to make a difference and spent their time doing it.
Other teachers who were simply doing 8 hours, 20 years. Were in a rut, in other words.
The privilege of being allowed inside the walls, where youth grows, strives, falls, gets kicked by a bully, but carries on. As a blue collar guy, I was out of place. Most schools welcomed me anyhow.
That is wonderful! Male teachers are much needed in our school systems...my husband teaches and is sometimes the only male figurehead a child has...as well, it is tough because he has to be very careful about hugging a child or being in a room alone with them, etc. Burn out is common...he is not looking forward to retiring because of the kids, but he is tired of the bs...
Made me tear up a little...my husband is a teacher...he does make a difference...
