Today's clickbait article seems to claim/blame increased welfare reliance on lack of religiousity or lost faith. Here in the Bible Belt it does seem like if you don't routinely visit a religious gathering then you are a lone wolf and you won't benefit from in-person social networking... which might weaken your family chances as a single. Which could lead to increased welfare reliance I suppose. So with what do you replace "going to church"? Something that provides similarly routine social networking?

Go to a Liberal Democrat protest. I've heard straight white guys are in short supply at those gatherings in the Bible Belt. You might become really popular in a very short time.
