The religious right, as well as many Republicans or those less educated, see science as an unchanging belief system like religion, rather than an evidence-based system of interrelated facts based on the scientific method! Wow! Lights went on for me. I've been having so much trouble trying to understand how seemingly intelligent people can deny factual evidence. Now I get it! Or at least some of it. I've been in academia, so I know people, essentially science-based, who have a Ph.D and still believe the Earth is 5237 years old! Unbelievable! At least that video explained the majority of that problem.

& using that method new facts & testing will alter the outlook & interpretation based on those new facts. Some things appear to be basic, but, even they, like the questions we have on "quantum gravity", or string theory, or the big-bang will alter as new information comes to light, & may even go through a sea-change, tho the probability is low. Science does not purport to be the truth, even with a small "t", just the best idea we have at the time with the evidence we have before us.
@phxbillcee Exactly! That's how we understand it, but those other folks see it as an unchanging belief system, completely the opposite of what it actually is. That seems to point toward a major educational problem.
@MojoDave & the money instead goes to armaments & boondoggles.
It is a sad feature of the western worlds education systems failings, that such arguments even have to take place in the twenty first century. Would that the oppositions arguments were not so much less wrong even just less banal would at least be a improvement.

So, true. It gets old answering insipidness, but then, to have to answer the same crap, over & over & they never get it!
