If I join a group and the site continues to tell me I need to join the group to post/comment does that mean I am blocked from the group?

No, you'll see a notification that group x is not available. I just found out that I was blocked from a group today when I tried to view a post from someone I'm following.

It's not a group I'd ever heard of or attempted to join.
