Regarding Religion: A Few Thoughts.

*All of the thousands of religions and religious beliefs over many, many centuries can't all be right but they can all be wrong.

*You have three monotheistic religions devoted to peace yet who have constantly been in armed conflict with each other (both major and minor) since their inception.

*The most common and hated enemy of religions isn't other religions (although inter-religion conflicts are true and do happen) but are the atheists.

*Religion: we're not anti-science as long as science agrees with us.

*One cannot separate religion from science since religions make scientific claims (i.e. - creation events) that are subject to scientific inquiry.

*Science doesn’t know everything but religion doesn’t know anything. If you don't know and don't know that you don't know, yet you try to influence others with your lack of actual knowledge, that's dangerous.

*Teaching hatred (of other religions) is religion's job.

*It's okay to lie about religious concepts if who you are lying to doesn't know that you're lying.

*When religions state X, Y & Z as facts, they need to put up (evidence) or shut up like all other fields of study have to do.

*In religion, magic / miracles are the ultimate of explanations, so just ignore the facts and embrace the fantasy through 'God glasses'.

*No religion, no prayer, no miracle can save you from the pain of dying.

*And since when has religion ever been about tolerance (i.e. - contraception, what goes on behind closed doors between consenting adults, LGBT and gay marriage for example)?

*Notice how religious punishments for being anti-God or being atheist or being a Doubting Thomas or failing in some other part of your religious creed are always dished out in this lifetime instead of the powers-that-be relying on you getting your just desserts in the afterlife. So much for faith in God's word and abilities.

*I like Richard Dawkins point of view on the following: A child of 3 or 4 or 5 or even more is NOT a Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, or of any other denomination. They are ONLY a child of Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, etc. parents. These children are way too young to be labelled for they lack any comprehension of what it is they are being labelled about.

*As the old bumper sticker said, "The religious right is neither."

*Religions provide multitudes of unfalsifiable propositions.

*All the evidence for religions is unverifiable, therefore it doesn't count as evidence at all.

*Every claim that religion has made that can be tested has already been proven wrong.

*There are as many gods as there are believers since 'god' agrees with whatever that person is representing him (she or it) at that time. Person A: my god agrees with my religious philosophy. Person B: my god agrees with my religious philosophy (even though the two religious philosophies are mutually exclusive).

*How many parents have willingly allowed their children to die in the name of their religion and the teachings within that religion? Way too many!

*Sexual orientation is not a matter of choice but your choice of religion most certainly is.

*If thousands of other religious deities have been discarded, dismissed, pronounced dead and buried and (nearly) forgotten about, why should the last deity standing (i.e. - God or Allah) be some notable exception to that historical rule?

*Religions: They put a pile of manure on your table and tell you it's ice cream!

*Religion has no reality check!

*It is perfectly acceptable to blame religion for the crimes against humanity; for the immorality committed in the name of religion.

*Religion is highly relevant in that it employs multi-thousands of people; it supports a large publishing industry; it owns massive billions in real estate. If religion went the way of the dodo it would have a massive economic impact on the world's - well - economy.

*Every other religion will give the thumbs down to your religion - not just the atheists. And there will be some pretty smart dudes in and of those other religions that you will have to go up against.

*True Believers must test their own religion's claims and texts by the same standards they apply to other religion's claims and texts. If your religion's claims and texts fare no better than the claims and texts of those other religions, then your religion is just as false as those other religions are.

*If every religion gives the thumbs down to every other religion, then that says it all. Not every religion can be the one and only one true religion but every religion can be false. This is what is known in the trade as logic!

*Philosophy: Questions which can never be answered. Religion: Answers which can never be questioned.

When the monotheistic religions get replaced by something better, more plausible and jiving better with our scientific discoveries and modern society, they too will die out and join the old mythologies of yore.
