I highly recommend this book.
It's very well written and chock full of intriguing facts.

One disclaimer; the facts on mitochondrial dna are not 100% accurate, as there is a form that is paternally inheritable.

Thanks, it is good to get a book recommended, especially since having seen some of your posts I now have an idea of your tastes. It may be that you have to forgive the lack of mentioning the facts on paternally inheritable mitochondrial DNA as this is fairly new science and it can take five or more years to get a book to print. Who is the publisher ?

@Donotbelieve Thank you I have manage to order it.

Something that always comes to mind when the issue of our genetic ancestry is discussed. It has to do the the Machiavellian aspects of who we are that often come to the forefront.

It's a quote from comedian Colin Quinn. He said it explains a lot to remember, "We didn't evolve from the tribe that starved to death waiting for their turn at the dinner table."

Paternal mitochondrial DNA?

@Donotbelieve Wow! I had no idea. I wonder if we might discover one day that this leakage is enough to rule out the mitochondrial Eve theory?

I have been considering getting this on my digital library, but wasn't sure. I think I will now. Thanks for tipping us off!
