Bertrand Russell said: "history is replete with people who have gone to their deaths for their beliefs. There is nothing new in this and it will continue into the foreseeable future. Personally, I would never die for my beliefs because after all, I could be wrong." I do like his sense of logic.

I agree with you and will add that on the 1st of July 1916 my grandfather was one of the buglers who blew a bugle that sounded the advance on the Battlefield of the Somme, he was one of the very few to return home. Bertrand Russell is one of many brilliant contributors to philosophical inquiry. There is no doubt in my mind that there are also a great many unmentioned people throughout history who gave their lives to protect their country.
