Forty percent of the American public are brainless twits.
I'm not going out of the house ever again. Will someone do my shopping for me so I don't starve?

Sorry ..I can’t get over the Jaun de Fuca plate… You’re living dangerously as is 😕

@Bendog At least you’re aware of it.. My dad will be ..fish food. But the reason I’m not on the Oregon Coast is the best and latest research I found gave a timeline of occurrence being every 300 to 350 years.. And yes, the last full break was ‘around now,’ 319 years ago 😕

@Bendog I’ve not heard of it... I’m on the Blue Ridge now, with it’s base rock once having been the ‘original rock’ of the African continent! What’s also amazed me about Virginia is how the Chesapeake Bay was formed by a meteor strike! Have they a ‘sunami’ to worry about?

Earthquakes in the Appalachian chain resonate quite a distance, through near solid rock, but they’re rare, and caused by ‘rebounding.’ As these ancient mountains have eroded, once as high as the Himalayas, the planet’s mantel is actually lifting from the previous weight..

One area to avoid, in my mind at least, is the location of the New Madrid quakes of Missouri in the early 1800’s. Eventually, the that entire portion of the US, basically the Mississippi River Basin ‘rift,’ will become a shallow sea … which I believe it once was, making the coal formations/ deposits on ‘the other side,’ or Allegheny portion of the Appalachian Range.

...then there’s Yellowstone 😀 but that one’s a lot further off… There’s so much media hype over pending geologic disasters that I think the public almost ignores it, like CA falling into the sea.. Sure, in several million years - and headed your way 🙂 But the Subduction Zone studies in the PNW are no joke, damn it. As much as I’m enjoying this ..hardwood forest and it’s crisp sunny winters ..I miss the Gulls of Oregon ~
