Over the weekend, Saturday night, I am flat on the couch with both feet on the coffee table (wife is not around obviously). The TV is actually watching me. Daughter comes over and wake me up. She is freaking out. Took me a split second to snap out of it and come back to reality. Turns out, my right ankle was swollen up. Never happened before. She was ready to call 911 but I managed to calm her down. I actually thought it was pretty funny. She didn't agree with me. Swollen was gone next day. Anyhow, today I got back to my excercise rutine after work. That should help to improve circulation if that was the smoking gun. Anyway, I didn't do much excercise today and I feel like crap. I will prevail and get back in shape or will die trying.

Could be a Blood Clot and you need ultrasound to check, STAT! Fairly easy to dissolve with oral meds, but if a bit breaks free, into the lungs, heart or brain, dead before you hit the floor.
Not a joke, and Do Not do Any exercise until checked!
I would not be as worried if there were other limbs swollen, but you describe the classic presentation of a blood clot....betcha $20 if you call your doctor h/she will tell you to sit quietly & call an ambulance for you!

It's been more than 48 hrs and I did exercise a little bit yesterday no problem. Swollen is gone and looking forward to exercise today a bit more intense. If no one hear from me in 24 hrs then you were right

Take care...water retention is not a good sign...exercise will be great...if it happens again, maybe you should go to the doctor and have your heart checked...your poor daughter...she wants dad around!

Take care....there will be no dying before your time!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, my next appointment is coming up in Feb. Excercise should help, I'll give it a week to see improvement.

@IamNobody flex and point your toes often...it pumps the blood from your lower leg...I had knee surgery and was told it will also prevent dangerous blood clots...didn't you just fly or something? They tell you to do this on the planes as well...pump pump pump...well wishes!

Yeah, it could definitely be the sign of a severe health problem with the heart or kidneys. I don't think it's something for him to overlook.

Water retention would be in Both sides! He has classic symptoms of DVT blood clot, including even a plane flight recently! Exercise, even a tiny bit, could cause a piece to break free & kill him Instantly!

@AnneWimsey True--exercise prevents blood clots to a degree, but once you get one....

@thinktwice my brother got one a few years ago.. He went to his doc because he could not cycle due to the swelling, & despite the hospital being less than 2 miles away, doc called an ambulance...a true medical emergency!

@thinktwice I went to O'Hare to pick up the wife. I didn't fly ?? She did and I got the problem !! ?? It's all good now.

@IamNobody I went back and read your post and realized you did not fly...so I quit worrying about you...lol...glad to know you are on top of it....take care!

@AnneWimsey wow--that is scary! Hope the outcome was good!

@thinktwice he still has it, it will not dissolve & is inoperable due to its position. So he is a ticking time bomb

@thinktwice still here.... I did exercise about the same as yesterday. Baby steps... The whole thing could be stress... Too much on my plate right now. I still believe excercise is the way to go..... One day at the time.

@AnneWimsey I am so sorry...my mother had an abdominal aneurysm that was a ticking time bomb...she was 85 and just lived her life as if any moment would be her last...
