I was having problems with Firefox, not really from this site, but in general. It kept reloading old tabs from the last tiem it was opened and internet instructions to fix it were all outdated. So, I am trying out the Waterfox browser which supposedly doesn't collect as much personal data.

I am a bit disappointed that it is more like a previous version of Firefox with no drop down menus along the top.

It sounds like you're talking about this setting, Restore Previous Session.

I went through settings several times, and I twas nto set up to restore previous sessions.. but it tried to do it anyway. I could sometimes get it to ope3rate right by shuttign it down and restarting several times, but eventually that didn't work either.

So far Waterfox is workign just fine.

@snytiger6 It sounds as though the default profile got messed up, so the next thing to try is create a new Firefox profile, if you want to try. I'm curious whether or not this will clear it up. 😛
Type in the address bar: about: profiles (without the space)
From that page you can create a new profile and make it the default.

@bingst Or it may be that I never created a profile, but just used the browser without one. I don't want to make it easy for websites to collect data about me.

Waterfox is working GREAT. I have had no problems or issues and pages load much faster too. I'll probably uninstall Firefox in the next couple of days.

@snytiger6 No. A default profile is made for you, and it's what is used when you startup Firefox. I'm not talking about making a Firefox account for syncing between devices. Profiles remain local. They can be used for multiple people or just instances, and keep cookies, logins, etc totally separate between profiles.

Run FF in private mode. It won't save the data.
