Category: Most insensitive human (?) proclamation today.
Just saw Wilbur Ross, a self proclaimed millionaire and a cabinet member (who BTW is still collecting his paycheck every two weeks) speak to a reporter and this is what he said: (paraphrased)
He has heard the reports of gov't workers needing to go to the places that are handing out food, etc etc - and he does not understand why in the world they don't just go to a bank and get a loan. He has obviously never applied for a loan and doesn't understand that banks don't lend to people who, for whatever reason, might not be able to repay that loan. He also actually made some reference to FDIC banks - as if he thought that just because a bank is FDIC insured that would make it easier for a gov't employee to get a loan there??? Not sure where he was trying to go with that....it all sounded like a delusional, totally out of touch old man who damn sure shouldn't be the current Secretary of Commerce. I am still SMH.

That's not what Ross is saying... can you people EVER put anything into the correct context? He's saying that banks will certainly give any gov. worker a loan to make ends meet until their check does come, because the bank knows they will eventually get paid and pay the loan off.. He's merely showing the fact that people are just not willing to take the time to go to the bank and get the loan in the first place.

@Lavergne Oh sweety, l think you've smoked quite enough for today. I watched the interview, and that's exactly what he was saying. So perhaps if you actually showed the tape instead of paraphrasing, everyone else could see the truth as well. And in case you're wondering like Beowulf's buddy, there are a bunch of banks and credit unions offering such loans. @Captain_Feelgood I read the link - seems to be pretty localized (Iowa). And I don't have to show the clip because they're running it every 30 minutes or so. Kidding aside, the larger point is that its easy when you're a millionaire to just opine the way that he did. What has always made this country great - is the way ordinary, everyday people will reach out to help each other. And we're seeing a lot of that right now - which is heartening. But I stand by my opinion that Wilbur Ross came across as sounding tone deaf.
P.S. Have never watched the soaps.......which one is your favorite? I'll try to catch it......
@Lavergne Never could watch them.. And not Iowa local at all.. 1st Citizens is in 18 states from the Carolinas to California.
Billionaire dickweed born rich. He could use a lighter diet. He says they can use their back pay as guaranteed for a gov secured loan. Uh, last I looked, no credit unions are offering to do that. Some are delaying car and house payments.

Exactly.....how do we end up with cabinet members who are so out of touch with the real world that they can even say things like that in front of a camera. ???? WTH?? Oh yea - what am I saying.....a president that has a gold plated toilet seat - you know he really feels the pain of all those people in the heartland. SMH
