Ban styrofoam and single use plastics in Washington State!

"From our beautiful coasts, to our rainforests, our mountains, our farmlands and deserts: Washington State is rich in natural beauty. It's time to take bold measures to protect it for future generations. We urge you to pass legislation that will ban the sale and use of styrofoam and single use plastics in WA State.

Styrofoam and single use plastics are relatively new products of convenience and are not critical consumer goods. There are less harmful alternatives, and we need to legislate this switch away from harmful fossil fuel-based disposable goods to keep the economic impact equitable across businesses statewide.

It is time we commit to phasing out these environmentally harmful products in order to protect our fields, streams, coasts, wildlife and reduce the legacy of environmental degradation that our kids will inherit."

The definitive answer to this growing problem is hemp. Hemp is easy to grow, requires very little care as it is actually a weed grows fast, can be made into thousands of products, and when made into plastic, is biodegradable in as little as ninety days into fertilizer. It has been used for thousands of years and was recently (this year) made legal to grow again in the U.S.

Blame DuPont and Dow chemical for the hemp band! They lobbied Congress in 1937 to make it a drug! It was simple bribery that stop the use of cheaper hemp to produce goods!

Now the ass wipe Mitch McConnell of Kentucky has now reverse the hemp band! His state has lands that are not good for commercial food crops but can grow hemp without much effort!

My city recently had a plastic straw ban on the ballot. Sadly, it failed. It would have been one little step in the right direction. I think, unfortunately, things won't change until the old rich white dudes running everything die off. The McConnells, the Inhofes, the Trumps, etc...

We are buried in an avalanche of critical issues threatening our existence and our government has, especially now, its head in the sand over all of them. Anybody that cares about the continued existence of our planet needs to take action in 2020 to turn this nonsense around. I hope there is some sort of light at the end of this dark tunnel.
