The American dream. Is there such a thing? Maybe it’s just a metaphor for happiness, in which case it’s surprising that many people choose to give it such a materialist meaning.

It appeared to be a feelgood ploy while fighting the USSR in ‘the good ol’ days.’ It’s where trumps hat slogan promised to return us… It depicted a prosperity that was temporary.

Once the US had to compete with the world’s recovered industrial powers, having greatly depleted our low-hanging resources.. this aspirational, if nationalist marketing ploy began to collapse.

We recognize the disappointing reality within the US, but with our exportation of fantasy media around the globe, others are given a far rosier picture..
