Sagging pants. I hate them, but why do we need LAWS about that, but can't have a debate about gun control?
There are 132 thousand schools in America, both private and public. Since Columbine there have been 25 shootings totalling 438 people shot. Of the 438, 138 died. There are also 5,300 colleges and universities in the USA. There are around 50 million students enrolled in these schools. The average cost per student is $12,300 per student per year. College is vastly more. There are 24 million white students, 8 million black, 13 million Hispanic, 3 million Asian/ Pacific and about... a half million American Indian/ Alaska natives. Your child has a much better chance of coming home in one piece in the school system than they have of driving back and forth to school or dying from mere food poisoning. The average killed is fewer than two per year. Chicago kills off more on an average weekend than the entire US school system in a year. Things are not remotely as bad as you are being led to believe. More gun laws will not do a damned thing to allay any violence in the public school systems. Go after the shooters!!! Every single one of them were well known to authorities as being mentally unbalanced.
