This is an interesting article on "Why do people believe in God"

I suspect there's more of this than any xtian is willing to admit: " If you live in a society where religion is prized, it’s in your best interest to say you believe, whether you truly do or not. I’m sure there are plenty of doubters in the pews at Sunday services, though none will admit it."
