This article won't post under "links" for weird reasons, so I'm going to try it this way.
Feeling anxious? It's not just you, it's our philosophical era of neuroexistentialism.

Being agnostics or atheists, I think a lot of us have dealt with this.
always trying to take the fun out of it. in some manner, and to varying degrees, what previous generations have done are significant influences on today.
I'm not quite sure what you mean.
@tnorman1236 the impact/consequences of a life can extend far past the lived days it numbered.
@hankster Right, but I'm not sure how that relates to the article.
@tnorman1236 the knowledge that your life can have meaning beyond the confines of living it, gives it a sense of purpose?
@hankster Okay, sorry. I was just being dense.
@tnorman1236 naw... complexities...hard to get clear on this stuff sometimes.
As a geologist, archaeologist and paleontologist by training, I've never thought of humans as anything exceptional. We evolved a complex neural capacity that allows us to think abstractly.
The eagle can see a small object a mile away, the cheetah has speed. They adapted to fit the requisite requirements of their environment, as have we. We can go extinct just as easy as they can.
Why is so important for humans to need to feel that we are special? I teach science and I would be incredibly remiss if i taught that. We are just another organism in a very long chain of organisms, and will go the way of many organisms.
“As a geologist, archaeologist and paleontologist” damn - New Mexico.. I’d love to tag along.. But am becoming anchored to Virginia’s blue ridge ...naturally agree with the rest, but man, those credentials are ..magnificent ~
True. And I understand that. It's just that people seem to need meaning, and suffer unnecessarily when they don't have it.
@tnorman1236. Agreed
Seems to be so much pressure from every angle.
