I've had two relationships since my husband died. One lasted almost 2 years but he was way too young for me. Now to online dating. I've been on POF for about 4 years off and on. Yes scammers contact me often and I am adept at recognizing them almost immediately. That means they're really no problem just an irritant. When I pay attention to the site I usually average a date every 3 or 4 months with someone that is fairly nice but not all that compatible or appealing. Since I am open about my age, I think that's phenomenal. Now to my sad story. I started talking to this guy 350 miles away that lived 40 miles from my children in Kansas City. We were both enthusiastic and I kept telling him, I would call him the next time I came to Kansas City to see my kids. Well, every time I went to Kansas City my family had so many activities planned with the grandkids plays and recitals that I just didn't call him. Pretty soon our phone calls became fewer and farther between. Fast forward to last summer which was about a year-and-a-half after we started talking. I decided to make an effort to meet him and we met and had coffee on my way to Kansas City. I felt chemistry and was so excited about finally meeting him. I invited him to an event with my family the following evening and he declined because he said he already had a family event of his own scheduled. No problem as far as I'm concerned because family is important. 3 days later when I get home, I open his Facebook page after he had commented on one of my posts. Front and center is a picture of him on his wedding day. Lo and behold, he is on my Facebook page everyday since I met him for coffee including his wedding day. He is not flirting with me but he's always there and it makes me sad. I guess the moral of this story is if you I really interested in someone, don't put off meeting them.

There’s no telling what would have happened but I hope you meet someone wonderful that deserves you.

I'm sorry that happened to you. Best of luck to you in the future!

Don’t beat yourself up. Long distance relationships when one or both people have an active life are hard.

Oh no...but a long distance like that barely works. After my separation i had a semi romantic interest in a much older guy but it never got physical although we saw each other a couple of times. We became friends. I hope you can keep that with him.

I don't think that would be a good idea since he's married and did not mention that to me three days before his wedding day
