I have type 2 diabetes. I have to keep my blood sugar levels normal throughout the day. Normally, it's easy to do because I work from home, so I might eat a handful of nuts every few hours. But when I'm working somewhere off campus as I have been all week, I forget to eat, and then it can get scary. I usually keep a pack of skittles in the car for emergencies. Today I was distracted by a problem and totally forgot to eat something. When I got home, I had a splitting headache and was dizzy: sure signs of an attack. I drank some apple juice and ate some cheese. I feel a little better now. That was a close call!

One time when I had a gig in CT, the contract stipulates that the caterers will feed us before the guests. When we got to the wedding, the bride hadn't told the caterers, so there was nothing prepared for us. Once again, I hadn't thought to bring anything (my fault, not hers). After setting up, I felt light headed, so I sat down in a corner of the room and must have passed out because next thing I know, my partner's shaking me awake and handing me a cup of orange juice! Scary

If you are experiencing hypos at this rate then you are overmedicated. Have a review. Do you have a diabetic specialist nurse?

@celticagent Ok...yeah. I'd ask for a review. Hypos should be rare in type 2. Either your carbs are too low, you are exercising too much or the most likely you are over medicated.

So sorry you have to deal with that disease. I recently switched to a plant based diet as my doctor told me I was pre-diabetic and needed to change my diet or I was going to be on medication in the not to distant future. That did it for me, since I don't like taking pills. I've been on the new way of eating for 2 months now and have felt so much better and have even taken off 10 pounds. Have you ever thought of trying a plant based diet? I'm not talking total Vegan, but vegetarian. I still eat eggs and a little dairy (creamer for my coffee) and I allow myself some salmon twice a month.

I've been a vegetarian now for 3 years it doesn't seem to make a difference

@celticagent sorry to hear that. So far I've been able to get off my blood pressure medication. I must have caught it before my body went full diabetic and needing meds. I just know I'm much better since switching over. ?
