That is good but like he also said that is the very liberal ELCA. I spent many years as a part of the Missouri synod version of Lutheranism and it is definitely one of the most conservative, restrictive and punitive cults.

The clergy need to literally remove themselves from medicinal practices.
A priest who declared antibiotics a sin for interfering in gods will, he would be told to shut up and stop being so irresponsible. The churches stand on abortion and birth control is equally so. They would soon have something to say if a scientist invaded the eucarist and pronounced it a lie that bread and wine can actually turn in to human flesh and blood.

Whatever we think about religion, and I take it we can all agree that we think it is a bad thing, then I believe that this is a good news story from Norway. There are no Christian Churches, or indeed any other Religions for that matter that approve of abortion, it seems to be the one thing that unites them. In that light, it is a step in the right direction for the Church of Norway, whilst not in favour of abortion, to come out and admit that their stance has been contributing to women’s plight. We need more denominations to do the same and begin to show some human charity towards women who need no extra barriers put up when they are seeking terminations. Norway has a large percentage of atheists per head of population, and has been progressive in social and health programmes in the past, so I was somewhat surprised that there are moves to reduce the time to obtain an abortion from 12 weeks.

I'm not so chirpy about these liberal churches. If you are a female member of the church, sure it matters and it is a good thing. But these churches muddy the waters on religion when they abandon the basic scriptural instructions not to murder. and to love others as themselves. I don't think it will help these churches to survive the liberal world. I think they'll implode under their own contradictions.
