I heartily agree with the article. I recently made some comments about some hyperbolic (and mostly false) claims by an environmental group about an EPA proposal regarding an area in which I’ve practiced professionally for over 30 years, including 20 as a lawyer. A friend was very harsh in her criticism of me because “these groups are well respected.” Although I had explained exactly why the claims were wrong, the facts were of no interest to my friend. This article seems to reach into the puzzling psychology of willful ignorance.
