Will the hate and anger ever end? Whatever happened to peace and love? This stuff in New Zealand is so sad!! I am so tired of negative, hateful news. It's not getting better, it's getting worse if you ask me. Any thoughts?

Tragedy and hate sells papers and media news, people don't want to hear about people being nice to one another because it is not exciting.
The majority of humans are shepherded through their lives by a mixture of feeling oppressed, fearful and unfillfilled, all that keeps them from going is hate and blame. This manifests itself in the need to feel superior and the percieved promise that if you make the inferior go away things will get better.
It will take at least three generations of people having grown up in a radically different international ideology to even begin to combat this established way of life and in then it will have to be in a vastly reduced population.

It is hard on all humans when all they seem to hear and see is death and destruction. I think a lot of us are showing signs of a sort of PTSD due to all the horror we see on the news. I try to look for good things happening on the internet to counteract all the negative. I've also closed my fakebook account, don't do twitter and pretty much just come here for my social contact. It seems like things are not getting better at times, but we need to remember there are many people who are doing good things in their corner of the world. Focus on the good that is out there.

agree, staying informed can be very depressing. There is a lot of hate out there, all in the name of some God, glad I am an atheist.

you make a good point, God is on the side of the biggest army.....

It is extremely disappointing that people from the generation that had one of the biggest peace movements in our history (The 1960's and early 1970's) ends up being some of the most war-like bastards on the planet.

There have always been violent, murdering assholes. Or to put it in Biblical terms, murdering assholes we shall always have with us.

It's just that it's better-reported in real-time than we were used to growing up. AND, the conservatives and god-botherers are panicking that their grip on society is slipping, which means at least a temporary abreaction in the direction of authoritarianism and fascism. This is dangerous, and concerning, and worldwide -- but does not represent the end of the world either. Well, not necessarily anyway.

I agree this is dispiriting and tiresome and frightening. But I try to take care of myself a little every day and remind myself that this, too, shall pass. Also ... I do what I can to be involved in making the world around me better. That's all anyone can do.

I smell of hate. I reek of death.
