Please don't confuse nihilism with atheism. I didn't create international athiest day but I do wish I had. You do realize that we often hear about Christians objecting to this or that law but rarely do we hear about atheists inputting on legislation the effects the cival rights of others. And yet there are far more atheists and/or agnostics then there are Christians. They are organized and lobby polititians. Maybe we should do that and make our voices heard. I don't think a little organization and celebrating our own public holiday is going to hurt anything. Power to the people.

Greeting card:

During this season
We cling to reason

Happy day, motherfucker.

Fortunately, I refuse to acknowledge the term "atheist" so I've nothing to worry about.

I'm not sure. ?
According to Wiki, the first Thursday in May (5/2 this year) is the 'National Day of Reason' to correspond to the 'National Day of Prayer'. Honestly I've never put much energy into those sorts of labels so I don't have much knowledge one way or the other.

Update: You're right. The AtheistRepublic website lists it as exactly that. I'd not seem that before. Thanks.

I was listening Thom Hartmann earlier today. Some caller on his show mentioned it. I checked my email and I seen an email for this group and I was like, "Oh yeah. " I have to wish everyone a happy day."

I think atheists shouldn't celebrate holidays. Of course my family has Christian roots so they celebrate a few of the holidays in a secular way, or as I like to say, in a commercial way. But let's not make this a hallmark holiday
