In order to discover what is true of reality you must first be willing to actively question that which you wish to be true. That is the only path to anything resembling objective truth. If you go about your search for greater understanding of reality with preconceived conclusions you seek only to justify, what you find will not be truth; rather you will come to discover a self reaffirming system wherein any contradictory evidence will be dismissed without consideration, or morphed to fit the narratives already decided upon; and all supporting evidence will be accepted regardless of it's factual accuracy.

You can either value the things you believe or have faith in for comfort's sake, or you can value that which can be shown to be true or logically demonstrated. You cannot do both while maintaining intellectual honesty.
