Science has been more evil to us than the benefits it yielded. It has created more bullets than medicine tablets ! Vast majority of the great scientific minds are engaged in enhancing our luxurious and lazy living. Are we happier than our forefathers ? Are we really less savage with our scientific destructive tools ?

As others have stated you are conflating science and technology. While Science is only slightly swayed by ideological bias, technology is fully swayed by the ideology where it is produced.

I doubt the nostalgic claim of happier forefathers can be defended, unless by "happier" you mean unaware as in 'ignorance is bliss'.

Your are trolling right?

Anytime before modern indoor plumbing and air conditioners/modern heating sucks.

I find this unworthy of a response, but here it goes. Science isn't evil. Amazing things have been created using science. Has it been used by some ending in what you call evil? Of course. The positives are too numerous to list.

I think you are conflating technology with science perhaps. Technology is about making ones daily life easier, not happier. You would think there would be a correlation but there really isn't. More free time offers more time to contemplate what you don't have, what you would like to have, or what your missing out on.

As I eluded to on many previous posts, science is not same as technology, and technology is not the same thing as science. Technology borrows from science to advanve their agenda and discoveries. But technology is not constrained by the same rigid guidelines and controls. They should be, but often (not always) do not adhere. Technology is constrained by the bottom line and the market place. The cost/benefit constraint has more influence in the outcome frequently than the scientific controls. Many advancements are couched in a veneer of science, but final decisions are based on economics, not scientific exactitude.

@powder. on the surface that is true. But technology takes shortcuts in order to preserve the profit margin. Big Pharma uses double and triple blind studies. But often shortcuts the final analysis and ignores questionable results inorder to fet a product out. Science is driven by knowledge, tecnology is driven by profit.

You seem confused about the difference between science and technology and unaware of the influence of unbridled capitalism in all this. As well as the role of consumers in enabling it by buying fast food, violent entertainments, electing complete asshats to office, etc. There's plenty of blame to go around.

But if you want to give up your cell phone, your car, morphine, airplanes, CAT scans, refrigeration, central heating, running water, go off the grid and live in ignorance and squalor, go right ahead.

I don't think Im mistaken. I been teaching science at the high school and college level for 30 years. I have no plans in giving up anything. Plus no allusions as to how technology advances. Yes consumer capitalism drives advancements in technology. Not necessarily the same in science.
