Do quiet guys like talkative women?
12/14/2014
Another date from Hell.
Like a bump on a log
I'm worn out from carrying the entire conversation this weekend. On Friday, a man from Yakima- a two-hour drive- drove to take me to dinner, followed by the Nutcracker performance. Gary was very taken with me. At his urging, Gary returned the next day to walk on the riverfront with me and play Scrabble.
It turned out Gary has low self-esteem and confidence, and very poor communication skills. He was like a bump on a log. When I stopped talking, the silence stretched on and on. He said nothing. "It's your turn to say something," I finally said. "I can't think of anything to say," Gary replied.
Rotten breath
To make matters worse, Gary's breath smelled like rotten food. I was repulsed. "How often do you floss your teeth?" I asked. "Not very often," he replied. Although Gary was highly attracted to me, the feeling was not mutual.
I told Gary I don't see him as a romantic prospect, and that his poor communication skills are impossible for me.
Boring and exhausting
"It's boring and wearing to carry the entire conversation," I said. "I love back-and-forth repartee and witty banter." "So do I," he said. "Communication is a two-way street," I replied.
"It's extremely rare to find a woman who is slender, beautiful, intelligent, fun, energetic and athletic as you are," he replied. I suggested counseling to increase his confidence and self-esteem, and improve his communication skills. Then I stood up and walked him to his car.
It's relevant to the question, "Do talkative women like quiet guys?"
I keep a log of bad dating experience, positive experiences, and my profile updates.
This helps me remember when a man wants to try again.
Two doctors want me back, among others. On our first date, Joshua nitpicked and browbeat me, making me cry. I refused to see him again.
After two years, the other doctor reached out. He missed me. First, he touched my heart by saying:
"One of my happiest memories is when you took me snowshoeing up in the mountains."
Yesterday he flew to Wenatchee to bicycle on the Apple Loop trail. "Would love to see you," he texted. "If you want a ride I can meet you at the airport in 1-1/2 hour." "Yes, please!" I replied, excited.
"Where do you want to go?" Bill asked. He flew me up Lake Chelan to Stehekin and North Cascades National Park. It was thrilling! We had a blast.
Spectacular flight over the mountains. He sent the right bait.
