Does anyone believe that it would be better to join an alliance with another country who does not have the same value system as we do in the USA (for example China) if it would reduce the possibility of a war? I personally believe that if it would accomplish this that it would be preferable to a possible war. Imagine the position it would place Russia in if we made an alliance with China.

I think that rather than have alliances with other countries that simply by having interdependent trade relationships would be enough to inhibit most tendencies to go to war.

It is very difficult for democratic nations to accept Communism as an equal form of government. During the 2nd.world war we had ARM and Hammer still trading with the Nazies. Corporations seem to go for profit rather than political choice. Tensions especially with nukes should make us consider alternatives that we might not other wise consider.

I'm getting pretty close to a preference for Chinese rule over us to reduce the religious influence. If the choice is Taliban or Communism I'll go with the big C.

Why have countries at all? It divides people, and worse, it gives harbor to centralized power which seems to me always ends up getting used to exploit the masses for the benefit of the few,

WE need countries to provide organization for a society. We need government whether we like it or not. Who would or be capable of building infastructure, roads etc.
