Some of Robert S. Mueller III’s investigators have told associates that Attorney General William P. Barr failed to adequately portray the findings of their inquiry and that they were more troubling for President Trump than Mr. Barr indicated, ....
Questions: why did trump and team persistently lie if there was nothing to hide?
Why is Barr setting the narrative at such a low standard while he should know otherwise?
Why did trump first want to release the whole report (no collusion!) and now changed his mind? (It’s damaging!)
The narrative seems to have shifted as the public has absorbed the Barr "summary" and the surrounding cognitive dissonance. Trump has gotten the desired mileage out of his victory lap but has now set a ridiculous expectation of "total exoneration". Meanwhile there's no news for Trump going forward but bad news on that front. Congress WILL get his tax returns, and proceed with various oversight investigations that were totally absent during the first 2 years of Trump's presidency. The numerous spinoffs of the Mueller investigation WILL proceed. Barr WILL be forced to release the unredacted Mueller report to congress, or Mueller or someone on his team will release it unilaterally. It's all downside from here on.
Still, something tells me that Trump will escape impeachment and get re-elected anyway. The Democrats are too cowardly to pursue impeachment even if a deranged Trump shows up naked at Capital Hill and starts machine-gunning them all down. Their top two candidates are a couple of elderly white guys, one of whom can't stop giving women unwanted smooches and backrubs. The public is too exhausted by the whole thing to give a shit.
Our long national nightmare is NOT over. And may never be. America is dead; long live America.
