Did he use religion as a vehicle for good
THE ANSWER IS - NO
Capitalizing on people's ignorance and weaknesses cannot be justified even if the outcome was good. The end cannot justify the means.
This is the same argument the religious zealots make all the time - see how many hospitals, orphanages, shelters we built, see how many hungry we feed, see how many poor we serve --- but this is all using the brainwash and exploitation on a much larger scale in the first place.
I like MLK for standing up against the tyranny and power and being prepared to take the beating from the authority. he was articulate and had a mission in life. But I am sure he knew that the message is sold in churches much better than in streets. We have to stop making heroes of wrong people for wrong reasons.
Look at the the 3rd world countries, this has become a standard model of becoming famous, rich and powerful without any knowledge, wisdom and goodness in heart because there are millions of suckers to sell the garbage to. For example it is very easy to become a "SWAMI' or a man of god in India. This is all you will need to do:
Go to any temple in India, you will get free food, free shelter.
These religious Swamis or Gurus have millions of followers. 98% of charity in India goes to religion - not to schools, hospitals. They have tremendous power
Go, visit India and you will see many Westerners from many countries are making a great living in which they have failed at home.
