You have the chance to meet someone with whom you can have the most satisfying love imaginable-the stuff of dreams, Sadly you know that in six months the person will die. Knowing the pain that would follow, would you still want to meet the person and fall in love? What if you knew your lover would not die but instead would betray you?

Better to have loved and lost, than never loved at all. Yes. I would pay that price if I could find that person. But as to the second question... certainly not knowingly, but you take that risk in any relationship. To my thinking, there is no perfect match. There is no way to win if you don't play the game.

The man I married did betray me. Horribly. I would rather have never met him. If I met someone and the love was mutual and strong, and his illness was terminal, that wouldn't stop me from loving him and wanting to share what was left of his life. I would endeavor to make what life was left to him as rich and joyful as possible.

Intention matters.

I would - what is life without pain and no one is guaranteed a tomorrow - so while the relationship may not last neither may I.

Yes. Absolutely. To experience something exquisite, even for a short while, is something that should never be passed up.

I agree with you, there have been many times in my past that I am glad that I did not pass up a opportunity here or a opportunity there!!

I don't think so.....
