Tonight I have watched the first of three dvds issued in a set in 2010 by Readers Digest. The set is Victor Borge "The Ultimate Set". My viewing tonight was " Now & Then" filmed live in the Fox Theatre in Detroit in 1992.
I was alternately in laughter followed by tears. The man just keeps on giving and giving!
Please enjoy what I serendipitously acquired on Saturday in an unopened brand new copy of the three discs for $AU1 - this first disc's record of his performance about 27 years ago to me is priceless!
What I loved about Borge was that his comedy was never crude.
Before you can poke fun at music, you have to have mastered it, and he certainly had. I bought my first Victor Borge record "comedy in music" nearly 60 years ago.
I noticed reference in the video to a 1951 performance. He started performing publicly in 1926 and it wasn't until 1941 that he started performing on American media. He died in 2000 at the age of 91.

We own his dvds too.
Worth pulling out and rewatching every few years?
@FrayedBear Oh definitely! We were watching our first one once when our son was in the tub, & he came out wondering what we were laughing at so hard. Of course we had to play it again for him, & he was hooked!
@Lilac-Jade a wonderful story. Thanks for the share.
@FrayedBear He hadn't heard us laughing like that over any comedy before.
Comic and musical genius, I have loved this guys work all my life.
