@Petter have you being consuming ergot? I did not read all the way through your link which incidentally is National Geographic, not BBC. However, it appears to be about the hallucinogenic ergot resulting from fungus poisoning and nothing to do with preserving cognitive ability. Has your clipboard mixed your references up or are you in need of the benefit of ordinary mushrooms, not hallucinogenic ones?

I put a link to National Geographic because that had an article on St Anthony's Fire, caused by ergotamine, derived from rye fungus. It also affects the brain.
