There's this, for lack of a better word, thing going around the scientific community that religion and science can work together to solve many of the problems facing humanity. Almost 20% of scientists agree with this. I do not claim to be a scientist but as a free thinker and having a inquisitive mind I disagree. I see one huge problem with this belief. Science looks for truth, finds proof of truth, tests many times and many ways to prove the truth and then gives a theory on the truth and explains how the truth was discovered so others can do their own tests. Religion begins with a very big flaw. Lies, and I just can't get past that nor should anyone else. Science can help humanity but religion stonewalls it at every turn. What are your thoughts?

Science might be inspired by religious texts, but I doubt blind faith and untested supposition can aid much to science or progress.

There is no chance the two can work together, religion is based upon faith and science on the ability to test and retest and get the same result.Science is based upon facts ,religion is based upon myths.

If you replace the work "religion" with "philosophy" then I'm all for it. Philosophy is benign. But religion is a malignant disease (as you say, riddled with plain untruths / lies / alternative facts).
