Currently reading The Bell Curve: intelligence and class structure in American life. Yes, it's 25 years old, but if one extrapolates to current day situation, a lot of it seems spot on. I tried to discuss some of it with a friend and found out why it's so controversial. After the first 3 sentences of my synopsis, she was finishing my sentences with references to Nazis and eugenics. Has anyone read it so as to have an informed, intelligent discussion without knee jerk reactions?

After reading that, you should try reading "Inequality by Design; Cracking the Bell Curve" It was written by a group of sociologist from Berkley and provides some very compelling arguments critiquing the Bell Curve.
