This is somewhat related to the post I just wrote, which lead to a discussion about abortion. Some commented about the sanctity of human life, which I have also been debating. I think the Bible promotes specism, in that it teaches that only human life is sacred because only humans have souls. I read alot of comments on Facebook which claim that ANY forced termination of a heartbeat is murder. My opinion is that this condones the slaughter of other sentient creatures. The people who are so adamantly against destruction of a developing fetus with no consciousness don't seem to mind the fact that farm animals who are sentient are abused, tortured and killed every day for their consumption. They love to post graphic pictures of aborted fetuses, but don't mind, in fact, resent that anyone even mentions, slaughter houses.

If God put the animals on the planet for us to eat, then God should not have given them brains.

Hard to swallow that sanctity of life bullshit when the bible justifies the slaughter and death of millions for ridiculous reasons.

I've always heard from the religious whacks that "god put the animals on the planet for us to eat" They always fall back to their god making it OK to kill them.....

They also brand animals by saying only humans have souls, which I guess is the reason killing them is not murder.

@friendlycatlady It's a cruel world out there
